Kennedy Center Ends Free Public Tours After 50 Years
“No reason was given in the recent memo for the decision behind halting the tours, but the instruction came shortly after a volunteer tour guide was featured in an NYT article lamenting Trump’s leadership of the cultural venue.
Before the memo was released, three tour volunteers had told NYT of their worries that the Kennedy Center would respond to the article by targeting the tour program.
The tour guide featured in the NYT is the 87-year-old Sandy Weiswasser, a retired sixth-grade teacher who has given hundreds of people free tours of the Kennedy Center for the last 18 years. “
