Brooke Meyer worked as a Portrait & Dance Photographer from Oct 2010 to Oct 2022, serving the Triangle area of North Carolina.
This started long ago (2010) as just a clean, comfortable place to show my work – no Ads, Sales Pitches, Pay Walls or Agenda. Portrait & Dance Photography was my encore career. And it was deeply satisfying. It scratched an itch I’d had as along as I can remember. It was the people and their stories.
Last December, I got a gift which is sort of an outlined diary to help write a personal memoir titled “My Fathers Life”.
Coincidentally, the I/T Gremlins just this week “suggested” I mash the Big Red Reset Button on this blog, tear it down to the frame and roll out Version 2.0. Which I am. Photographs are my means of expression and books are the catalyst. It will be pictures and words. It’s a little skimpy and needs polish now, but after I sort through a bunch of necessary getting my Ducks In A Row stuff, by late summer, I’ll be positively prolific! And unless someone does something reckless on the highway or sends un-aimed bullets my way, I got a few turns around the Sun left.
When I finally hit the “Work Wall” in late 2022 – it was like a switch went off. Partly due to natural aging and partly due to grief I’d been deferring. It comes to all of us. So time to savor and cherish all the good luck I’ve had. And maybe make someone smile and find satisfaction in photographs that are evidence of their accomplishment and character and family. It’s a pretty good deal.
