Paquita #3

“Paquita” is the title role of an 1846 ballet,  a Spanish Gypsy girl abducted as an infant from noble birth.  After saving the life a young officer in Napoleon’s Army and a few plot twists,  she discovers her birthright and marries the Officer.   I love happy endings, especially when they are danced this beautifully.  Photographed at the 15th Annual Spring Gala of the Cary Ballet Company,  7 PM Performance,  March 24th, 2012 at Cary Arts Center, Cary , North Carolina.

Paquita #2

As a ballet, “Paquita” is a written for ballerina soloes.  A very good idea.

The Rites of Spring

The Cary Ballet Company presents it’s 15th Spring Gala this Friday and Saturday, March 23rd and 24th, at the Cary Arts Center.  I photographed a Space & Tech Rehearsal last night, sort of a walk before you run before Dress Rehearsal.  I’m always amazed at what enthusiastic young people can do with guidance from great teachers. When the costumes are final and makeup is applied, they take it to the next level for performance.  Extraordinary.
